The main building at Thala is designed to embrace all the elements of the tropics. Built from local timbers, it is open and spacious, allowing the cool sea breezes to flow. A circular guest lounge and reading room perches high amongst the Popular Gums with a breathtaking view over the Pacific Ocean. Here small islands float on the horizon, suspended on the waters of the Great Barrier Reef. A path runs on down the headland and onto the sandy beach where delightful hours can be spent discovering secluded coves or just feeling the warm sand between your toes.

Bungalows (85) Great sensitivity has been applied to the design of the deluxe bungalows, which are individually built high on timber poles, looking out through the canopy of trees. Deluxe Bungalows offer a tropical rainforest or mountain view. When you draw the curtains in the mornings, delight in the spectacle of brightly coloured Rainbow Lorikeets and Honeyeaters amongst the nearby canopy. Room service and porterage is provided. Transfers and Location
Thala Beach Lodge is situated just 40km (35 minutes) north of Cairns International Airport via the scenic Captain Cook Highway, or 15 minutes by helicopter to the Lodge's helipad. The resort's 12 seat coaches provide airport transfers (fee applies) with prior notice. A regular bus service operates between Cairns city/airport and Port Douglas calling by Thala Beach Lodge. Port Douglas is just 15km (10 minutes) north of the Lodge.
