The contemporary architecture is mesmerizing. The roofline soars up pavilion-style, the huge porthole is actually a window seat framing views of Stanley's famous icon, The Nut. The interiors feature specially commissioned furniture and art by local artisans, while the bathrooms have an underwater theme with cobbled beach stone floors.

But architecture isn't the only drawcard. The cabins are located on a 72-hectare farm just south of Stanley. You can try spotting over 200 species of birds using the supplied bird inventory and field guides. At the end of the day, help yourself to oysters from the rocks, grab a bottle of wine, the thoughtfully provided oyster shucker and head to the large beach deck - the perfect way to enjoy a sunset.

Accommodation at Beachside Retreat
Choose from a spacious 3 Bedroom Spa Lodge for a family holiday, contemporary-style foreshore Ecocabins, just for couples or the Luxury Nature Cabin which can accommodate two couples. All the units have a fully equipped kitchen, with microwave, electric fry pan, gas or electric cook top, kettle and toaster. Refrigerators are stocked with Tasmanian wines and cheeses. Each has a television and CD player. Guests may order a continental breakfast basket. There are many restaurants for those wishing to dine out.

Three Bedroom Spa Lodge
The centrally heated three bedroom luxury spa lodge, for 5 guests, contains a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, stove and microwave. There is an adjoining lounge/dining area, bathroom with large double corner spa, sunroom and outside decks. A sofa bed is available for an additional 2 guests. Full linen and electric blankets are provided. A television, VCR, CD player and telephone, with a (local phone number) internet connection, are situated in the lounge.

Ecocabins
For couples only, the contemporary styled ecocabins are situated on the sand dunes overlooking the sea. Each environmentally designed cabin is self contained with en-suite bathroom, lounge/dining/kitchen area and a private deck overlooking the beach. A queen sized bed has an electric blanket and linen.

Luxury Nature Cabin
This is the latest unique cabin accommodation and recently opened. Like the ecocabins it is situated on the frontal sand dune overlooking the sea. There is a full size kitchen and lounge/dining area; a queen size bed and a large bathroom. A sofa bed is available in the lounge for an additional couple. Featuring European appliances with dishwasher, reverse cycle heating/air conditioning, pebbled slate and rainforest myrtle timber flooring, this is our most superior accommodation.

Activities
On-Site - In need of a few days rest and relaxation? Then enjoy at Beachside Retreat a peaceful, natural environment and miles of sandy beach. Experience collecting fresh wild oysters, catching fish, swimming or beach combing. Identify the shore birds with binoculars and field guides.

Spot the white-breasted sea eagle hunting along the foreshore on windy days, or inspect the Maine-Anjou cattle herd on the farm. Take a leisurely stroll to the wetland, home of the rare striped marsh frog. See the wildlife around your cabin at night.

At the end of the day enjoy a bottle of wine whilst admiring the magnificent sunsets from your waterside deck. This is a very private place to unwind.
