East Kimberley Tours proudly holds first place in the history of tours into the Bungle Bungle. Twenty three years ago, the Wainwright Family, owners of the Turkey Creek Roadhouse began the first tours into the Bungle Bungle (Purnululu National Park).

Father and son, Bob and Paul Wainwright, took their passengers into the little known region to see the magnificent beehive domes that are now world renowned and world heritage listed, they discovered a gorge which they named Kilometre Chasm, later to be renamed Echidna Chasm when the area became a national park and they also ventured into Mini Palms Gorge.

Purnululu National Park: Bungle Bungle
The Bungle Bungle range of the East Kimberley is one of the world's great wonders - an intricate maze of spectacular sandstone beehive domes, narrow gorges lined with magnificent fan palms, and soaring cliffs with many seasonal waterfalls and rock pools. Major attractions are Echidna Chasm and Mini Palm Gorges in the Northwest and Piccaninny and Cathedral Gorge in the Southwest.

One of Australia's most recognised natural icons, remote and absolutely breath taking, the Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle) has recently been inscribed on the World Heritage List.

NORTHERN WALKS
Echidna Chasm - 2 km return: Easy to moderate
Named after an Echidna sighting, this walk begins at the base of a sandstone dome and continues upstream along a rocky creek bed into the chasm. The chasm is almost 200 metres high with only a few metres separating the towering cliffs and ends suddenly being closed in by a vertical rock face. This is mostly a cool, shady walk except at midday when the sun is directly overhead.

Mini Palms Gorge - 5 km return: Moderate to difficult
Beginning easy, this scenic walk is at the heart of the main Bungle Range and follows a rocky creek bed upstream. Starting in a wide open area, the walk then becomes more difficult as visitors are faced with a narrowing closed area where they must slide between and over conglomerate boulders. The end of the walk sees a viewing platform from where dwarfed Livistona Palms can be viewed.

SOUTHERN WALKS
Cathedral Gorge - 3 km return: Easy to moderate
Beginning easy, this walk is shared with Piccaninny Creek until the trail breaks off to follow another creek bed which leads to Cathedral Gorge. Becoming more moderate, visitors will have to pass over rock ledges, waterholes and eroded potholes before coming to the final display of a natural amphitheatre carved out of the sandstone dome walls.

Domes Trail - 1km circuit: Easy
This short walk extends from, rejoins and can be a continuation of the Cathedral Gorge trail. An easy walk along a flat trail is where visitors are able to walk amongst the famous Beehive Domes.
