Par Avion Wilderness Tours offer a range of tours to South West Tasmania which include day tours, scenic flights, overnight cruises and camps. They operate a fleet of 10 aircraft offering twin engine all weather aircraft for charter and a twice daily return service to the North West Coast and Flinders Island.

South West World Heritage Tour

Fly to one of the World's last untouched wilderness frontiers, South West Tasmania. This World Heritage listed National Park has some of the icons of the Tasmanian wilderness within its boundaries. See the Western Arthur Range, Federation Peak, Precipitous Bluff and the rugged Southern Coastline. Tour includes a spectacular scenic flight and boat trip to Bathurst Harbour, Tasmania's newly listed Marine Reserve. There is also an opportunity to see the rare and endangered Orange bellied parrot and the home of South West Legend the late Deny King.

Tour includes scenic flights, boat trip and refreshments. Tour duration approx. 4 hours. Departs Cambridge Airport, Hobart daily 0900 and 1330. Based upon a minimum of two. Need to bring suitable footwear and warm clothing. Rain coat advisable.

A Day in the Wilderness

An unforgettable full day tour, exploring the South West National Park, a Wilderness area that is nearly 4600 square Kilometres in size. During your visit to this World Heritage listed wilderness you will have the opportunity to see some of the most spectacular and remote wilderness Tasmania has to offer. Such icons as Federation Peak, The Western Arthur Range, Port Davey Marine reserve and the rugged South coast, that borders the Great Southern Ocean.

After landing at Melaleuca we board our vessel and visit the pristine waterways and wilderness of Port Davey. A visit the untouched Celery Tops Islands is a memory that will remain with you forever. There is also an opportunity to see the rare and endangered Orange Bellied Parrots and the home and garden of South West legend the late Deny King. Tour Duration approx 8 hours. Wilderness on Water - South West Tasmania - a unique place – remoteness - world heritage - a harsh climate - cultural heritage

Explore the remote wilderness and waterways of Port Davey, a World Heritage listed National Park and a Marine reserve. You will have the opportunity to take walks in the wilderness, stroll amongst ancient Huon pines, sojourn up spectacular rivers as well as learn of the flora fauna and cultural heritage of this lost world.

You know you are in for a real adventure when a light, single engine aircraft - Par Avion flight- is the easiest access to your destination. This waterway, which experiences only a handful of adventurous people each Summer is such a destination. 20% of Tasmania is World Heritage Wilderness and our expeditions explore the heart of this. South West Tasmania lies in the path of the Roaring Forties so summer temperatures will be in the low 20’s with some windy and rainy days.

3 Day/2 Night Bathurst Harbour Experience

- a splash of comfort with a blend of activity and adventure. Our double kayaks are stable, comfortable and easy to use- no previous paddling experience necessary. A relaxed pace allows time for more than just exploration by kayak. There is opportunity for short walks, photography or simply reflection. An intimate group limited to six and accompanied by our two knowledgeable guides insures you of a very special experience. Just as importantly to us, a small group minimises our inevitable impact on this pristine ecology.

Tasmania boasts some of Australia’s finest produce and we pride ourselves on presenting this in high quality meals. The cooking is healthy, tasty and most importantly nourishing. We are happy to cater to any dietary requirements or restrictions and ask that you advise us at time of booking.

Your home for the two nights will be at our forest lagoon standing camp-secluded platform tents with standing headroom and raised beds. Open air dining sheltered amongst the forest completes the setting for your evening wilderness retreat.

3 Day/2 Night Bathurst Harbour Walk Experience

You don’t have to be a sea kayak expert, however this expedition offers plenty to challenge and satisfy the most experienced paddler. An intimate group limited to six and accompanied by our two knowledgeable guides insures you of a very special experience. Just as importantly to us, a small group minimises our inevitable impact on this pristine ecology. The food is fresh, plentiful and good. We supplement our supplies with locally gathered seafood when we get the chance and we don’t mind catering for any dietary preferences and restrictions as long as you inform us on booking.

Your accommodation will be in 2 person tents pitched at the end of each day so you can experience as much of the region as you like. We ask you to be comfortable using minimal impact wilderness camping techniques.

This expedition is suitable for a person with average fitness and a comfortable camper. We do however, recommend novice and first time paddlers attend an introductory session prior to the trip. We are happy to arrange this or recommend a company closer to your home.

7 Day/6 Night Port Davey Experience

You don’t have to be a sea kayak expert, however this expedition offers plenty to challenge and satisfy the most experienced paddler.

Our kayaks - are paddling perfection “Packhorse Express,” centre hatch doubles selected for their superb sea worthiness and manoeuvrability – attributes essential for safe paddling in this extreme and remote location. An intimate group limited to six and accompanied by our two knowledgeable guides insures you of a very special experience. Just as importantly to us, a small group minimises our inevitable impact on this pristine ecology.

The food is fresh, plentiful and good. We supplement our supplies with locally gathered seafood when we get the chance and we don’t mind catering for any dietary preferences and restrictions as long as you inform us on booking.
