The Black Bear is situated right in the heart of Thredbo Alpine Village
and guests only have a short walk to the shops, nightlife and other village
amenities. The ski lifts are also just a short walk away so no time is lost
travelling. You are right in the heart of all the ski and boarding action on
the longest ski runs and the most legendry Black Diamond runs of any resort
in Australia with a vertical drop of over twice that found elsewhere. The
runs carry you over the most varied and spectacular terrain for the ultimate
skiing enjoyment. Snow making is taken seriously and the largest Snow Making
system in the Southern Hemisphere is situated in Thredbo so snowfalls are
topped up regularly.
Skiers from the advanced to the beginner are all catered for and lessons are
available for all the family with children well catered for in their own
special beginner programs at Thredboland located at Friday Flats.
Accommodation

The Schnapps Bar features German Beer on tap and you will find the largest
range of Schnapps to choose from in the Snowy Mountains. The bar is Thredbo'
s most popular meeting place and Skiers from all over enjoy the warmth and
hospitality that the bar provides. Piped German Music affords the
opportunity for every one to join in and sing along to their favourite
songs.
Getting to Thredbo
Road - Thredbo is 5-6 hours drive from Sydney and 7 hours from Melbourne via
the beautiful winding (fully sealed) Kosciusko Alpine Way. From the South
Coast and Canberra it takes 2.5 hours + to reach Thredbo.
Flying - The nearest commercial airport is Cooma, 85 km from Thredbo. Taxi
or car hire is available. Horizon Airlines flies from Sydney. Virgin Blue
and Qantas fly to Canberra. Transfers from both airports are available.
