At Monreale you will find all manner of birds and animals waiting to fleece you of any food in your possession. Over time they have obviously been spoilt and are now quite incorrigible. Do not leave your door open, as it will not take long to have a lounge full of cats, ducks and chooks. The fish would if they could. The property abounds with native fauna, with darting crimson rosella's, king parrots, wrens, finches, wild ducks, and a large variety of honeyeaters. In the morning you can hear (and frequently see) the lyrebirds making all manner of modern sounds.

Monreale has recreated a fairytale garden wonderland. The historic old and new gardens blend together in a picture postcard setting that provides a galaxy of colours and plant varieties that return each season. Autumn - vivid colours of the leaves, Winter - the ghostly English trees against the back drop of mist and giant mountain ash, Spring - the colours of new growth, rhododendrons, azaleas and every variety of bulb imaginable, Summer - the coolness of shade trees and ponds surrounded in acres of tree ferns.

Choose a gastronomic delight, superior to any five star restaurant experience and have it presented in the privacy of your own cottage, where you can dine in total and relaxed comfort. Enjoy your choice of the many romantic escape smorgasbord platters which include quality cold cuisine accompanied by steaming hot freshly prepared and yummy fare, all lovingly and expertly prepared by Cheryl.

All tariffs include ample country produce breakfast provisions for two adults for the duration of the stay and include a selection of teas, hot chocolate, plunger coffee and chocolates. Stays of longer than two days will have provisions restocked on the third day or as required.

Pampering Massage Treat yourself and your partner to a Relaxation Massage for two. You will notice the difference, before and after. Massages can be arranged in the privacy of your cottage or retreat.

Special Occasions Monreale is able to provide a first class facility to cater for your special small function. Anniversaries or dinner parties, intimate small weddings, birthday celebrations, family gatherings - combine luxury accommodation with your function to mark a memorable event. (Dinner or lunch seating is limited to 20 persons, accommodation is limited to 14 persons.)

Privacy at Monreale
Monreale are committed to protecting guests' privacy before, during, and after their stay. All information remains strictly private and will not be divulged to any other unauthorised party. Your presence at Monreale Estate is nobody else's business. They will decline to divulge your presence there should anyone ring inquiring for you - unless instructed otherwise by you.

Smoking at Monreale Estate
All internal areas including all of the cottages and retreats are smoke free environments. All guests are required to respect this condition and refrain totally from smoking inside. Facilities have been provided for smokers on the decking outside of each cottage or retreat.

Location
Generally allow at least one and a half hours from the Melbourne airport or city, and one hour from the eastern suburbs. Sassafras is in the Dandenong Ranges, 2.5 kilometres from the intersection of the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road and The Crescent, watch for the large sign, and then select the left driveway for cottages and right driveway for the retreats.

Inviting your friends or other visitors to Monreale Estate - In order to preserve the peaceful ambience of the property for all guests, Monreale ask all guests to refrain from inviting visitors to their cottage or residence during your stay. Should you nonetheless wish to have a small number of friends or visitors for a brief daytime visit during your stay, please arrange beforehand with reception.
