Edmund Kennedy National Park – Cardwell - lying along the coastline, just north of Cardwell, Edmund Kennedy National Park is within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Visit areas of low coastal rainforest, eucalyptus forest, melaleuca woodland, sedge swamps and extensive mangrove swamps.

The Coral Sea Battle Memorial Park – Cardwell - is Australia's largest war memorial. The park was created to commemorate an air and sea battle which took place in 1942 about 800 kilometres east off the coast of Queensland, between Australian/United States forces and Japanese.

The Bush Telegraph Heritage Centre – Cardwell - is possibly the oldest building in North Queensland, being built in 1870. Along with the old Courthouse, the lock-up and the former Divisional Board Hall (now the library), this precinct represents a significant era of the history of northern Queensland and of Cardwell Shire. The relocation of the gaol and courthouse to the rear of the library has allowed interpretive displays in these buildings to tell the story of the role of Cardwell in the history of the area.

The Post Office and Telegraph Station- Cardwell- was opened in 1870 and closed in 1983, and was the 'Hub of the Community' for 113 years. After restoration, in 2003 it was opened as a heritage centre. The interpretive elements of the complex have been designed to enhance the public's understanding and appreciation of the local history of the Cardwell area, focusing on the role and operation of the Cardwell Post Office and Telegraph Station and the other government building on the reserve.

Cardwell Air Charter - Cardwell is surrounded by several national parks and two world heritage regions - the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics. Much of the area is completely inaccessible except by air. A 40 minute flight around the utterly spectacular Hinchinbrook Island or a one hour Reef and Islands flight introduces the visitor to the wilderness of a tropical island and the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.

Cardwell Township - Situated on the waterfront of the Northern entrance to the Hinchinbrook Channel, Cardwell is a small town with all civic facilities and a great retail centre.

Blencoe Falls, Girringun National Park- Cardwell- the scenic landscapes of this park are breathtaking as Blencoe Falls tumbles 90 metres into a rocky pool, before cascading a further 230 metres to the hoop pine-studded valley below. Eventually, the water flows into the Herbert River, which winds through the gorge framed by towering cliffs more than 100 metres high. Take a five kilometre scenic Jabali walk to reach the Blencoe Falls lookout.

Murray Falls, Murray Upper National Park – Cardwell - large volumes of water racing over naturally sculpted pink granite boulders make these one of north Queensland's prettiest falls. Rainforest, mountains and tropical lowlands meet in the scenic foothills of the Kirrama Range. Information signs along the walking tracks provide opportunities to learn about the Girramay Aboriginal people's culture. Try the moderately graded 930 metre walk for spectacular views over the falls and Murray Valley. From the top end of the grassy campground take a delightful river boardwalk, the first 75 metres of which is wheelchair-accessible.
