For the Nature Lovers: Meet some of the birds that bring this paradise alive.
|
Kookaburra - The Aborigines believed any child who insulted a kookaburra would grow an extra slanting tooth.
Whipbird - The whip-like crack sound is created by the pressure of a high-amplitude sound wave echoing off the leaves in the whipbirds’ rainforest habitat.
Rainbow Lorikeet - Lorikeets are blossom feeders. These birds feed primarily on nectar and pollen by breaking the flower open with their sharp beaks.

|
Cockatoo - Around 45 to 50 centimetres tall, the cockatoo is white with a distinctive yellow topknot and a wash of yellow under its wings.
Activities
This is a naturally beautiful location with activities to suit all interests. Songbirds recommends:
Rainforest walks - Relax and reconnect with nature by walking through Songbirds’ rainforest pathways and Mount Tamborine’s national parks. Songbirds’ guests have exclusive use of more than 50 acres of pristine rainforest.
Visit the Knoll National Park - it takes about 45 minutes to complete the walk along 22 kilometres of graded walking tracks. Tamborine National Park is a great place for relaxed full day or half day bushwalking.
Witches Chase Cheese Company - Cheese lovers will enjoy a visit to Witches Chase. See artisan style cheese in the making. Try a variety of award winning local cheese including Camembert and Witches Blue Veins – one of only two Queensland-made blue cheeses.
Tamborine Mountain Distillery - Visit the international award winning Tamborine Mountain Distillery, one of only a handful of privately owned distilleries and Australia's smallest operating distillery still using a traditional copper pot to distil a variety of locally grown fruit.
Mount Tamborine wineries - Explore the Mount Tamborine wineries. These boutique wineries offer quality wines that are produced in small quantities and sold almost exclusively at cellar door outlets.
Play a round of golf- Golfers can play around at Mount Tamborine Golf Club, nearby Kooralbyn Hotel Resort or the Hyatt Sanctuary Cove. Transport can be arranged at reception.
Gold Coast shopping and beaches - Songbirds is only 30 minutes drive from the magnificent Gold Coast beaches and shopping hubs including Surfers Paradise, Pacific Fair and Marina Mirage. Transport can be arranged.
Eagle American Motorcycle Tours - Choose from a variety of exhilarating motorcycle tours. Bike through the wineries, share an Aussie pub lunch, take coffee at Canungra or see history come to life with an O’Reilly’s Plateau tour.
Future Plans
Songbirds Rainforest Retreat will soon undergo an environmentally sensitive expansion. Plans for an holistic resort designed to offer busy people all the benefits of the rainforest location with superb accommodation and spa treatments are now in train.
|
Songbird's range of holistic treatments will go far beyond the ordinary. Guests will have the opportunity to restore body, mind and spirit through world-leading operators and educators.
The retreat will encompass 20 private villas and numerous treatment rooms; some treatment rooms will be created as private pavilions in the rainforest. Guests will have exclusive use of the grounds, tennis courts, swimming pool and gymnasium. An extensive range of therapies will be offered along with yoga, pilates and other exercise regimes.
A food education centre and cooking school is included in the plan. Organic gardens are now being planted to provide the school and the restaurant with the best produce available anywhere in the world.
