Sacred Earth Safari's are a small, locally owned and operated tour company, based in Darwin. We specialise in luxury small group scheduled 4WD safaris and personalised private charters throughout the Northern Territory, Kakadu and the Kimberley. While our Kimberley safaris are comfortable camping, Kakadu safaris are camping and accommodated to give you the most comfortable experience in the tropical climate. Private charter gives you the option to choose the style and levels of accommodation in the Kimberley and the Northern Territory, from basic to luxury or station stays and we will design your itinerary to suit your budget and preferences.

Your Sacred Earth Safari's Guides
Danielle and David lead a team of experienced, professional guides, dedicated to looking after you and giving you an interesting, memorable and enjoyable holiday in Australia's North. Sacred Earth Safaris guides have passed the Kakadu For Knowledge Tour Guides course and hold current first aid certificates. They are experienced 4WD enthusiasts with a passion for nature, culture and the areas we visit and enjoy sharing this passion and enthusiasm with our clients. Guides are hand picked and trained on all aspects of the Top End and Kimberley, though each guide comes from a different background and has their own experiences and personalities to make each tour unique.

While Danielle mainly works behind the scenes (though she does lead some of our Top End tours), David is one of your tour leaders and trains our other guides. David is a Territorian with over 20 years of guiding experience. Originally from the Katherine region, he grew up on cattle stations and Aboriginal communities and gained a respect and understanding of the land and culture from an early age. He has extensive knowledge of Aboriginal rock art and culture, bush tucker, flora, fauna, natural history and geology and has been taking tours to the Kimberley region for many years.
Many years of touring in the Kimberley has also allowed him to form a special relationship with the remote community of Kalumburu, who allow us to stay on their land and have a local Aboriginal guide show us around (private tours only).
Your tour leader has a senior first aid certificate, and safety equipment is always carried on board including a first aid kit and satellite phone for more remote areas. While our office is always the first point of contact and is available 24 hours, 7 days a week, we are happy to give you the satellite number to pass on to family for an emergency contact, and recommend that you also give us the details of a person to contact should the need arise.
While you are touring with Sacred Earth Safari’s, your tour leader will prepare 3 meals a day for you (except breakfast on day 1 and dinner on the last day) as well as providing some light snacks, including fruit. Iced water is always available in your tour vehicle. Meals are varied and plentiful, using good quality ingredients (local, where possible) and offering as many fresh vegetables as possible, with consideration to the Outback conditions, especially in the Kimberley. Meals are cooked using the traditional styles of open fire and camp oven, where possible. Vegetarians and other dietary requirements (gluten free, vegan etc.) are catered for, as long as you let us know when you book.
Your guide will prepare and cook all the meals for you, though helping out with the washing up is always appreciated!
On accommodated private tours, it’s not always possible for us to cook, depending on where we stay. If we can’t provide all your meals, we will make sure there’s somewhere where meals can be purchased and you’ll be advised of meal arrangements before you book.

Never been camping before? Sacred Earth Safari’s make life as easy as possible for you. Our permanent camps are already set up. Our mobile camps are easily set up and our tents are quick and easy to erect, with full head room and camp beds with swags and linen for a good night’s sleep! Your guide is always on hand to assist. All we ask of you is that you set your tent up and help collect firewood for the campfire (though helping to wash up is always appreciated by your guide). By doing this, we maximise our time exploring the sights and it makes life more enjoyable for everyone on the tour.

Camping certainly doesn’t mean you have to “rough it”- you will be surprised at the comfort level our camps will give you and our food is great!
Our scheduled Top End tours stay in permanent camps or accommodation so you don’t even need to put up your tent- it’s already done for you. All permanent camps have full bathroom facilities.
If you charter us to take your family or group through Kakadu and the Top End, we can offer accommodation, permanent camps or mobile camps - where we carry our camping gear with us and you need to erect your own tent (instruction is provided and assistance where needed). We always stay in designated campsites with full bathroom facilities unless we advise otherwise when designing a suggested itinerary, based on the information you’ve provided (some of the more remote locations have limited facilities).
On our scheduled Kimberley camping tours, we use mobile camps, so we carry all our camping equipment with us. This allows us to stay in some beautiful locations (some remote), and experience some amazing sunrises and sunsets, with a chance of wildlife viewing in some places. We stay in designated campgrounds that all have toilets and with showers most nights. On the nights that showers are not available, you can use our bush shower and swimming is often available.
If you charter us to take your family or group through the Kimberley, we can offer mobile camping, accommodation or a combination of both.
The food is excellent and camping gives you the opportunity to stay in remote locations and experience some amazing sunrises and sunsets. If Sacred Earth Safari’s venture into more remote locations without any facilities, they carry a portable bush shower and toilet, for your comfort. Also onboard the vehicles are reference material and books for your enjoyment.
What do I need to bring?
For all tours you will need to bring your personal items, swimwear, towel, toiletries, small torch, camera (with plenty of film and spare batteries ), medication, sunglasses, wide brimmed hat, sunscreen, walking boots/sandals. It is a good idea to purchase alcohol before you begin your tour as buying en-route can be expensive with limited availability. Other items may be required, depending on your destination and the time of year. For every tour, you will be provided with an information pack, which will be sent to you upon receipt of your final payment, with a map and further details of what to bring as well as where you can buy these items along the way.
