The Humpback Whale is the fifth largest of the great Whales. Adult females grow to 15m, slightly longer than adult males. A mature Humpback may weigh 40 tonnes. Humpbacks are generally blackish in colour with white under and at the sides of the body. The flippers or pectoral fins are mottled on top and white below. The underside of the tail flukes is white with a black or grey pattern that uniquely identifies each animal as an individual. Jaws and flippers often carry large barnacles which grow on the Whales as they migrate North, and fall off again as they migrate back to the cold waters of the Antarctic Ocean.

Whale One - Vessel Information
Whale One has been purpose-built for Whale Watching and Cruising with the comfort and safety of our guests and crew in mind. The vessel is a fast and stable Australus Catamaran, licensed to carry up to 115 passengers. With a length of 20 metres and a beam of seven metres, this shallow draft aluminium catamaran is powered by a pair of Caterpillar 700hp engines through Twin Disc transmissions to fixed pitch propellers.

She boasts two decks with 360 degree un-interrupted viewing and comes with an extremely professional and very knowledgeable crew. Adventure Cruises: The adventure and excitement begins when we cruise through the exquisite canals of Mooloolaba, passing by some of the Sunshine Coast's finest, multi-million dollar mansions whilst guests enjoy their meal prepared by our talented chef. We then cruise out of the canals and along the Sunshine Coasts famous beaches whilst taking in the breathtaking views of Mooloolaba and the Glasshouse Mountains. Cruises can also be tailored to include a trip around the majestic Old Woman Island- home to many species of fish, Green Sea Turtles, dolphins and sea birds.

Entertaining Options: The open plan interior allows for easy mingling and features plush, comfortable lounges and a fresh, modern interior. Whale One is also licensed and a spacious dining area on the upper and lower decks. The upper deck provides the best of open air feel within protected cover. Celebrate any occasion with customised menus, music and outstanding service. Our innovative organisers will help you create an unforgettable social or corporate event onboard.

Food and Beverage: Our talented chef has prepared a range of menus and can also design menus to suit your culinary and budget requirements. Whale One operates a fully licensed bar onboard. Special beverage orders can be arranged with at least one week's prior notice to an event.

LCD Screens: Whale One is equipped with 6 LCD screens which are available for use during presentations. Equipment is available to connect your own laptop to play through all screens or alternatively guests are welcome to utilize the laptop onboard Whale One. A DVD player is also available.

Music and Entertainment: Whale One is equipped with a CD player which has the ability to be connected to MP3 players and is available for use during the event. Guests are welcome to bring their own CD's and DVD's onboard Whale One. If required we can suggest a number of live musical performers, DJ's, comedians and jukeboxes which can be arranged for an additional fee.

Due to licensing restrictions, all music can create sound of no more than talking level within 1.5km of shore. Music can be played with no restrictions outside of 1.5km of shore. We reserve the right to control the sound levels of any music played onboard Whale One.
